Tuesday, Tuesday

Here it is, already the 8th of December. Boy, is time flying!!

Our lots in DC and Chevy Chase are rocking and rolling! Dan and Bryan are reporting that they have some very nice trees on their lots. Wreaths and roping are also available, as are stands for larger trees.

The tree lot at the farm was crazy this past weekend! Lots of new faces and lots of familiar ones as well. It is really neat to see all the kids and how they change from year to year. I can’t tell you how much I enjoy being there!!

There was also SNOW! It snowed all day Saturday and while it was wet and cold, it sure was beautiful! It also helped to put everyone in the holiday spirit and that was contagious. That sure helped us forget how wet we were! I was totally unprepared for the day and, as a result, once I got wet, I never dried out until I got home.  Lesson learned! Bring a change of clothes, just in case!! LOL! Ohh, and a hat!

Sunday, we feared, would be a big muddy mess, but it never got warm enough to really thaw, which worked in our favor. No mud is a good thing!  The roads were clear and the ground was white and the shed was warm and toasty.

All in all, it was a great weekend.

Ohh, what a day!!

So, last Friday, Black Friday, we took the tree to the White House. What fun it was! We all got a tour, had some delicious(and beautiful!) cookies, drank some hot apple cider, and, the best part, the kids were good!!Got to meet Mrs. Obama. In person, she is stunning. Really, so down to Earth and real, I was pleasantly surprised. In fact, the whole vibe that the White House and it’s residents gave off was very comfortable. You could almost feel the excitement and happiness that the family has. It certainly was an experience to remember.

All in all, it was an exciting beginning to our Christmas Tree season!

The White House Tree gets cut tomorrow!

It’ll be official tomorrow. The tree for the Blue Room will be cut and sent to DC tomorrow. I’ll be taking pics of the event tomorrow and will post some here for all to see! It promises to be exciting, but I don’t think it will be as exciting as our visit to the White House on Friday!!

Stay tuned!

Here We Go!!

Welcome to Christmas Tree season, 2009! I will be updating here with all that goes on during the season, so keep checking in! You never know what will happen!!

As you can well imagine, this is a really busy time of the year for us.  It’s  just a matter of days before we open the tree lots to begin helping you select from a super assortment of Fraser fir and Douglas fir Christmas trees.

We also are very proud to announce that our farm was once again named Grand Champion at the National Christmas Tree Association conference, which also means that we have the privilege of providing the 19 foot Christmas tree to be displayed this year in the White House.

Here is a picture of the tree.  No doubt we’ll be posting more pictures on the blog as the tree makes its way into the White House to be admired by President Obama and his family.
